IVO GIUROV is a tenor with “crossover” musical style. His public ranges from classical to popular music fans. In his native country of origin, Bulgaria, Ivo often has been compared to Andrea Bocelli. He has won the most prestigious Bulgarian festival “Golden Orpheus” in 1996 and in 2008 he led 12 of the 13 rounds of the Bulgarian national contest "Sing With Me". Giurov performed during the entire election campaigns of the Bulgarian President in 2003 and 2007.
His USA career includes more than 80 performances in more than 20 opera houses in the US and spectacles in every major Japanese opera hall in 2007 and 2008 with the opera production company “Teatro Lyrico D'Europa”. His solo works include arias from Tosca, La Traviata, The Pearl Fishers, Turandot, Pagliacci, Rigolettos and others.
Giurov is a proud third generation musician of the Bulgarian National Musical Theater. He was in the class of Prof. Parapanov and graduated in the honor’s class of the world renowned Italian born conductor Ruslan Raichev, who has worked with geniuses such as Domingo, Pavarotti, Careras, Caballe and Freni. The tenor had the honor to work with the great Maestro Boris Hinchev up to 2005 and was under the mentorship of Luciano Pavarotti.
The tenor has recorded eight albums and sold more than 100,000 copies just in Bulgaria alone.
For the past three Fall/Winter seasons Ivo Giurov has performed more than 30 solo concerts in many US cities presenting an eclectic repertoire of more than 1,000 songs in five languages and in styles ranging from classical and evergreens to folk and pop.
